Activity #2 (Sight)

Sight

Which line is longer?
Seeing involves your brain as well as your eyes. Sometimes your brain can be tricked into seeing something that is not really there.

You will need:

  • paper
  • coloured pen or pencil
  • ruler
STEP 1: Using a ruler, draw a straight line that is 3 inches long. Draw another 3 inches line beside the first line, around 2 inches away from the other.

STEP 2: On the first line draw arrowheads (^) pointing inwards. On the second line draw arrowheads pointing outwards.

Look at the straight lines. Does one look longer than the other? The directions of the arrowheads trick your brain into thinking that one line is longer than the other.
